I saw a couple ridiculously cheap Toyota mini campers on CL the other day, so now I am looking again. I wonder what kind of fabrication work it would take to turn one into a tray back truck, since their is no back on the cab?
This image was selected because of the little deer.
$800 is cheap, but this truck lives in the NE, so rust.
This 1981 Sunrader, is rad, but I feel like they misspelled Sunraider. This one is extra cool because of the double rear axles.
This Nissan Dolphin is so nice I think I would need to put a kitchette and dinette in my house.

Look for a LaSharo, like the Toyota but with maddening French Renault power After all reliability is over rated

They are a very cool with their 80's almost futuristic design. I often see them when I searchtempest for Renaults.

So is the 0-60 time a maybe? That has to be unbelievably slow with a 22re in it.

He is aware of this, he had a 1979 1-ton long bed. The thing is these days highway speeds are so high it would be downright terrifying to drive on an interstate. You might see a cruising speed of 60 mph in ideal conditions.

Yes full oppo review would be forthcoming. Maybe even a comparison test between the toyota camper and his 1971 240z.

I’ve spent the last two-three hours window shopping on Autotrader looking at cars I wouldn’t normally want to buy.

I think I prefer the SEAT Leon Cupra 300 or the estate.
or it’s Skoda sibling, the Octavia vRS 245 estate.

My personal vote is combine that with a European crew cab, a longbed , and figure out some dually fenders for something like the mooneyes japan truck:

They were not built to last. 1x1 stick framing with aluminum siding and foam insulation. If you see any visible rot be ready to cut out some cancer.

Yeah some of the cheaper ones look very sorry. I was thinking one could get some of their money back recycling the aluminum when converting it to a tray back truck.

The toyota parts will last and probably be in decent condition with lower miles for the price. You would need to put a reinforcing cage around the back of the cab. The one I had looked like they took a old school can opener or tin snips to the sheetmetal once you got under the upholstery. With that goal in mind stay away from pre 83 and winnebago models. Make sure the dually is a 6 bolt.
